Viking was voted the number one River Cruise Line by Condé Nast Traveler in their 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards, and for the third year in a row, has been named the number one ‘Ocean Cruise Line ‘by Travel + Leisure readers in the World’s Best Awards 2018.

This newly built luxury cruise liner “Viking Orion” carried approximately 900 passengers and to commemorate her maiden call in Colombo, a ceremony was held on board and the vessel exchanged Plaques with SLPA and their local Agents, DEV MARINE AGENCIES PVT LTD. The plaques were exchanged between Capt. Rune Lokling – Master, Viking Orion and the Managing Director of Dev Marine Agencies Pvt Ltd., Mr. H.D. Dewendre.

The passengers joined the excursions including a site seeing tour in and around the City of Colombo. Also a visit to the Independence Square and its surroundings as it is considered to be the most prestigious location in the City Tour due to its significant heritage and extraordinary work of architecture.

Communications on this project had been happening for two years by Capt. Ajantha Abeysinghe, the COO of Dev Marine Agencies and Mr. H. Dewendre (MD, Dev Marine Agencies) who are also Senior Merchant Navy Officers and have been the two pillars behind the successful canvasing and promoting the port of Colombo and smooth operations during Viking Orion’s port stay.
